Working to Find Ways to Reduce Selenium In Our Locally Affected Waterways

The Gunnison Basin & Grand Valley Selenium Task Forces are a group of private, local, state, and federal interests committed to addressing selenium in our locally affected waterways, while maintaining the economic viability, quality of life, and agricultural heritage of the Lower Gunnison River Basin and Grand Valley of Western Colorado.
Gunnison Basin / Grand Valley Selenium Task Force

The Gunnison Basin & Grand Valley Selenium Task Forces are taking a positive approach to addressing selenium, and we are working to find answers to four major issues:
  1. Where is the selenium coming from, and are there areas where remediation efforts should be focused?
  2. What measures can be used to solve the problem?
  3. Can remediation measures achieve the Task Forces' goal to meet water-quality standards while maintaining the economic viability and lifestyles of the area?
  4. How would remediation measures be implemented and by whom?
