Gunnison Basin Selenium Task Force

Technical Meeting

I.                   Coordinator’s Update to the Task Force (10:00am – 11:30am)

A.     Congressional Briefing – update, letters, quarterly updates, etc.

B.     CH2M Hill/Salton Sea

C.     Budget Status

D.     CWA Dues

E.     Review Website Changes

 

II.                 State WQCD Monitoring (11:30am to 12pm): 

Dan Beley will be speaking to the Task Force via conference call.  The State is working with EPA to put together more comprehensive monitoring plans.  Dan has suggested to his group that they consider suggesting monitoring for long term trends.  He will be asking the Task Force for ideas, for example,

 

A.     Monitoring on tributaries being lined to document improvements in water quality; and/or

B.     Monitoring of Cedar Creek Piping Projects.

III.              Grant Proposal Planning/Budget Strategies/Reviews (1pm to 3pm)

 

A.     Conservation Innovation Grant Application (Due May 30th, 2005): GBSTF is interested in putting together a proposal (with NRCS, Delta Conservation District Support, Delta County and potentially others) to conduct additional GIS efforts with regard to selenium, salinity, soils, EQIP projects, water supply and demands to help meet local planning and remediation targeting needs.

 

B.     Colorado Watershed Protection Funds Grant (Due April 30th, 2005):  GBSTF is interested in putting together a proposal(s) for:

1.      Coordinator position support; and/or

2.      Match proposal for support of the GIS Mapping project noted above under the Conservation Innovation Grant Application; and/or

3.      Support of the land use study.

 

C.  BMP Project Status/Planning (Rick Isom)
